Formula back-check: C = [2,452 − 126×4 − 104×9] ÷ 4 = [2,452 − 504 − 936] ÷ 4 = 1,012 ÷ 4 = 253g vs logged 257g → Δ4g, within normal rounding tolerance across 11 logged items.
Why fat ran over today: No single item was the culprit. Sour cream on the Tortilla bowl (6g), two small brownies (8g each = 16g), the usual no-crust pizza (36g), and the omelette's cooking oil (4.5g of the breakfast's 19g) each look reasonable in isolation. Stacked on one day, they total 104g — this is a stacking problem, not a single-food problem, and it's the same pattern seen on the two other fat-ceiling misses this fortnight (Jun 19, Jun 20).

✅ The "very minimal oil" call genuinely shows up in the numbers — this omelette's fat is driven by the eggs themselves, not added oil. This meal isn't where today's fat overage comes from; that starts at lunch.

Bowl, medium — coriander rice, pinto beans, chicken asado, sour cream, corn salsa (mild), mango habanero salsa
Cart screenshot confirms the exact build (medium, AED 42, DIFC). Pulled the exact per-component figures from Tortilla's official nutrition & allergen guide (updated Sept 2025) rather than a generic "fast-casual bowl" estimate — this is more precise than the rough 650 kcal estimate used for this same usual order on Jun 22, and it's worth flagging: the real number is lower in both fat and calories than that earlier estimate assumed. Mango habanero salsa isn't on Tortilla's published guide — estimated from typical recipe composition for a small condiment portion.

📝 This is where the fat budget started tightening: sour cream (6g) + brownie (8g) = 14g fat before dinner even began. On days when pizza or another rich dinner is planned, skipping the bowl's sour cream is the single easiest swap to buy back headroom — it changes the bowl's taste very little and saves 6g fat for almost no cost.

Photo of the leftover crust strips confirms the same crust-skipping pattern established on previous pizza nights (Jun 16 onward) — this is the "Pizza Protocol" rate, refined over 3+ prior occasions: whole pie built from dough (~150g)+tomato sauce (~80g)+mozzarella (~100g)+olive oil (~10g) ≈ 778 kcal, minus ~15% of dough weight removed as crust.

⚠️ 44g fat from dinner alone is more than half today's entire fat budget. The crust-skipping discipline is genuinely good and is the only reason this isn't worse — but it landed on a day that already had sour cream and a brownie at lunch. Good execution, bad stacking. A second brownie at night, on top of the lunch brownie, is also a new pattern worth a quick mention below.

Two Weeks In: Where Phase 1 Actually Stands
Fifteen days of logging is enough to stop reacting to single days and start looking at the shape of the whole stretch. The short version: protein has quietly become a strength, carbs sit right in the middle of range on average, fat is the metric that swings hardest day-to-day, and water has not once touched the 3.0L target in fifteen days. None of this changes the plan — it tells us exactly where to point the next few weeks of effort.

Average across 12 days with full data: ~2,613 kcal — about 213 kcal/day above the 2,400 target. That's a real but modest surplus, consistent with a deliberate muscle-building phase rather than uncontrolled overeating. Jun 19's celebration dinner (3,528) is the one clear outlier.

What's Working
✅
StrengthProtein compliance is now a genuine habit, not luck. Since the range system started (Jun 15), protein has landed in range on 4 of the last 5 logged days (Jun15, 16, 22, 23), and it's coming from varied sources — shakes, chicken bowls, eggs, tikka — not one repeated trick.
✅
StrengthCarbs average 307g — almost exactly the midpoint of the 270–345g range despite swinging from 216g to 415g on individual days. The range system is doing its job of absorbing day-to-day variance.
✅
StrengthThe pizza protocol (thin crust, margherita, skip the crust) has held on every single occasion it's been used. This is the clearest example of a coaching instruction turning into an automatic habit.
✅
StrengthSelf-reporting is honest, including the misses. Pulkit has flagged his own water shortfall and continued sending photos for correction even when it made a score look worse (Jun 20). That's exactly the behaviour that makes this whole system trustworthy.
What Needs To Improve
💧
Priority 1Water has never hit 3.0L in fifteen days. Best so far is 2.8L (twice). This isn't a willpower problem — it's a missing structure. Nothing else in the plan has a 0% hit rate.
🥑
Priority 2Fat compliance depends entirely on how many rich items land on one day, not on any single food. Every ceiling miss (Jun 19, 20, 23) has the same shape: 3–4 individually-reasonable fat sources stacking. In range on only 3 of 11 days.
🍞
PatternCarb overages follow the same stacking logic, just less often. Jun 22's 415g came from two separate bread/batter-heavy meals (dosa breakfast + pita dinner) on the same day — the macro was fine on its own merits each time, the combination wasn't.
🍫
New, Worth WatchingTwo brownies in one day appeared for the first time today. Not a problem yet on a single occasion, but worth noticing before it becomes a daily-double habit the way the fitness bar and Triple Berries shake did.
Next Steps — Going Forward From Day 16
01Keep the current Phase 1 range targets unchanged — P 120–150g, C 270–345g (derived), F 60–80g, ~2,400 kcal, 3.0L water. Fifteen days in (15 of 56), the data shows the targets themselves are appropriate; the gaps are in execution on specific days, not in the targets being wrong.
02"Water First" protocol — make 3.0L structural, not a memory test. One 500ml bottle finished with breakfast, one with lunch, one with dinner, plus one extra 500ml at any point = 3.0L without needing to track it through the day. This is the single highest-leverage change available right now, given the 0% hit rate so far.
03"One Rich Item Per Day" rule for fat. On any day with a planned indulgence — pizza, garlic bread, a dessert — treat every other meal that day as fat-minimal by default (lean protein, no added oil, skip dairy toppings like sour cream). This single rule would have kept Jun 19, Jun 20, and today all under or near the 80g ceiling.
04Apply the same logic to carbs: avoid stacking two bread/batter-heavy meals on one day. If breakfast is dosa, pancake, or another carb-dense item, keep dinner closer to rice-and-protein or a single roti rather than a second bread-heavy dish.
05Suggest a Day 28 check-in. That's the halfway point of Phase 1's 56 days. A quick body-weight and photo check at that mark will show whether the ~213 kcal/day average surplus logged so far is translating into visible muscle gain — the actual goal — and not just a fat-ceiling negotiation. No change needed before then; this is simply the natural point to look at progress against the DEXA baseline.
06Keep an eye on the brownie habit without banning it. One brownie a day is a non-issue; if two becomes the new normal, it's worth a quick check-in the way the fitness bar and Triple Berries shake were noticed and folded into the plan deliberately rather than by accident.
"Fifteen days of mostly honest, mostly accurate logging — including the days that looked worse after a photo, not better — is exactly the foundation this whole system needed. Nothing here changes the plan. It tells us precisely where the next three weeks of attention should go: water first, then the stacking habit on fat and carbs. Protein has earned the right to be left alone." — Coach Manmeet
